Focal HR Consulting is a Perth-based practice established by Anthony Foley and Doug Caldwell. Anthony and Doug are both psychologists who previously worked together at Chandler Macleod Group. They possess broad, practical experience gained across a range of industry sectors and are committed to delivering quality programs that make a difference. Their decision to work together reflects their interest in being involved in designing, developing and delivering unique programs to enhance individual, team or organisational performance based on robust diagnostic processes. They have enlisted the involvement of other experienced psychologists and HR practitioners to provide the necessary scale to support enterprise wide initiatives.

Anthony Foley

Anthony Foley is an experienced consulting psychologist with formal qualifications in Psychology and Human Resource Management.  His experience spans a number of sectors, including resources, engineering, professional consulting, retail, transport, healthcare and banking, where he has worked with leaders at all levels of organisations, from front line supervisors to general managers and executive team members. Anthony has demonstrated throughout his career a strong capacity for service delivery, building close working relationships with stakeholders, while also securing success through individual, team and organisational interventions.

 

Anthony has demonstrated particular aptitude in creating practical, real world solutions to people related issues, where he has displayed genuine enthusiasm for identifying needs and using contemporary models and frameworks of leadership development, employee engagement and organisational change.  To accomplish this, he has maintained a strong focus on developing his skills, while demonstrating talent for applying concepts to the workplace to deliver change.

 

Anthony is a skilled coach, facilitator and consultant who has applied his expertise in assignments such as cultural change programs at Rio Tinto, the development of coaching frameworks for Accenture and the creation of talent management programs for several medium sized organisations in Perth.

Doug Caldwell

Doug is a highly experienced consultant  and past Chair of the APS WA College of Organisational Psychologists.

 

With Chandler Macleod Group Doug developed through state and regional general management roles to Chief Operating Officer overseeing the profitable development and growth of specialised recruitment, contracting and consulting business units operating throughout Australia and in New Zealand achieving annual revenue of $900 million.

 

In consulting and recruitment, Doug developed enduring client relationships based on the provision of professional advice and services configured in response to client needs and business requirements; was intimately involved in key account management, business development and contract implementation; handled executive and project recruitment; conducted culture/climate surveys; engaged in workshop facilitation with a range of participants from operators through to executive teams; provided psychological assessment services to support selection, career and succession planning; conducted outplacement programs and provided executive coaching services to improve performance and to develop and retain talent. 

 

In operational management, Doug consistently demonstrated a strong track record of profitable growth through selecting, developing, mentoring and retaining talent; ensuring alignment of structure and capability to business objectives; leading process improvement and systems enhancement to deliver better outcomes in a more cost effective way; and developing a positive service culture and commitment to shared vision and values via active support to business facing review and development practices.
